Ismail Kartal, who served as Persepolis’ third head coach after Juan Carlos Galido and Karim Bagieri last season, parted ways with the Iranian club. The Turkish coach was aiming to achieve great success in bringing peace of mind to the fans, but according to the Tehran Times, he will not return to Tehran due to family reasons.
Now, media reports suggest that Persepolis has begun negotiations with former Chinese national team manager Blancovankovic. The Croatian coach has been highly praised within the club, leading Persepolis to three titles in Iran’s Persian Gulf Professional League.
Another candidate is VFL Bochum, Bayern Munich, Hannover 96 and Vahid Hashemian, who is ahead of Habburger SV. He also served as an assistant to Dragan Skothic of the Iranian National Football Team from 2019 to 2022.
Brazil’s coach Osmar Ross Vieira led Persepolis to the 2024/25 league title, but he is also one of the candidates. He is currently coaching at Thai League 1 club Buriram United.
The fourth candidate is Foolad’s head coach Yahya Golmohammadi. He previously led Persepolis to three Iranian league titles.
