In an interview with Tehran’s NBC News, Foreign Minister Majid Takuto Ravanch said the US caused “serious damage” to Iran’s nuclear program on June 21 with what was called “naked attacks.”
When asked if Iran was planning further retaliation, Tak Ravanchi said, “Unless there is an attack being carried out by the US against us, we will never respond again.”
Takht-Ravanchi asked, “How can we trust Americans?” Following these negotiating attacks. “I want them to explain why they misunderstood us and why they acted so badly against our people,” he added.
Still, he suggested that if these demands were met, his country would be open to new consultations.
“We’re for diplomacy,” he said, “we’re for dialogue,” but the US government “should convince us that we’re not using military force during negotiations,” he said. “This is an integral part of our leadership being in a position to determine future rounds of talks.”
When asked if Iran would continue, Tak Ravanchi said, “Our policy has not changed due to enrichment.” Under the NPT, “Iran has all the rights to enrich within its territory,” he said. “The only thing we have to observe is not going to militarize.”
Iran said it was “ready to interact with others and talk about its range, level and capacity for enrichment programs.”
