Iranian President Masudo Pezeshkian met and detained Turkish President Receptacle Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 17th Eco Summit in Kankendi, Azerbaijan.
“We have always believed that sustainable security in the region can only be achieved through the cooperation of our neighbours, so we have always believed that relations between Iran and our neighbours should be expanded,” Pezeshkian said at the meeting.
It is unfortunate that despite the vast resources of the Islamic world, the Zionist regime recklessly committed blatant crimes in Gaza, killing tens of thousands of women and children, he said.
“This attack was carried out in a complete violation of open support for America and Europe and international principles and regulations. The only way to stop this process is to unify the Islamic Ummah,” Pezeshkian said.
“Iran’s principled policy is to engage with all its neighbors and create a region of peace and tranquility. When the Zionist regime attacked Iran, Iranian people thought it would be split, but everyone was opposed to the attack, even domestic critics,” the Iranian president said.
“The region cannot tolerate another war. Israel must immediately stop its attack on Gaza,” Erdogan said on his side.
Iran’s nuclear issue can only be resolved through dialogue, and Türkiye is ready to play a role as a facilitator in this process, the Turkish president said.
“Iran’s wise actions during this crisis have shown that the ultimate solution is dialogue and diplomacy, and I believe that the path to engagement must remain open,” he said.
