Every year, black-covered Shiite Muslims around the world celebrate the opportunity to fall on the ninth day of the calendar month of Muharam. He recites by mourning, smacking his chest and chanting with the eulogists who are harboring the sacrifices of Imam and his fellow members.
Iranians in the capital, Tehran and all cities, towns and villages across the country on Saturday attended mosques and religious centres and also went to the streets to observe the massive amounts of mourning rituals.
The grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (where peace is in him) and his 72 companions martyred after fighting courageously for justice with the much larger army of the Umayyad Caliph, Yazid I, at the Battle of Karbara in southern Iraq, in 680 AD.
Tasu’a Mourning focuses primarily on Abbas, half-brother of Imam Hussein.
Abbas was trying to bring water for women and children to the camp of Imam, and ascended to martial Buddhism as they had been denied water for several days due to the siege, which was slowly surrounded by the enemy.
Tasua is remembered as a day of loyalty and resistance in honor of Abbas’ loyalty to Imam Hossein and his brave resistance in the face of Yazid’s enormous army.
The highly regarded flag bearer is buried in the sacred Iraqi city of Karbara, at his own shrine. His own shrine is within walking distance of Imam Hussein, who symbolizes altruism and is known throughout the Shia Muslim and Muslim community as Saeed al-Shuhada (master master).
