“We condemn military attacks on Iran’s Islamic Republic after June 13, 2025 (23 Khordad 1404) in a statement issued by BRICS members at the 17th Summit held in Rio, Brazil on Sunday.
In their statement, BRICS members also sought a “immediate, lasting, unconditional ceasefire” in Gaza.
Regarding tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump’s administration, BRICS members said “we express serious concern about unilateral tariffs and secular measures that disrupt trade and contradict the rules of the World Trade Organization.”
The BRICS Summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 6th-7th at “Strengthening Global Southern Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.”
Representatives of the association’s countries summarize the results of their work from the beginning of the year. It is three important areas: politics and security, economics, finance, culture and humanitarian issues.
The summit will be attended by Brazilian President Luis Inasio Lula da Silva, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Indonesia’s Prabowo Sub-Ant. China is represented by Russian Prime Minister Lee Chiang by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. President Vladimir Putin will then take part in the plenary session via video conference.
