Trump and Netanyahu met for dinner in the White House blue room on Monday.
The meeting was held indirect talks in Qatar between Israel and Hamas over a US-backed proposal to halt the 22-month war.
When he came to his idea to relocate Palestinians earlier this year and take over the strip and turn it into a “Middle Eastern Riviera,” Trump, who sparked rage, said there was “great cooperation” from “neighborhood countries” on issues.
Trump and Netanyahu met when they held a second day indirect consultation in Qatar, where Israeli and Hamas negotiators were sitting in different rooms in the same building. The proposal for a 60-day suspension in combat envisages the gradual release of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners, Israel’s military withdrawal from parts of Gaza, and debates that will completely close the war.
But the fixed point is whether a ceasefire will completely end the war. Hamas said he was willing to release all the Palestinian prisoners and all the prisoners in exchange for the full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
However, Netanyahu says that when Hamas surrenders, disarms and exiles, the war will end. This is a condition that the Palestinian group dismissed as a non-starter.
Prior to Netanyahu’s visit to the US, Trump predicted that he could reach a ceasefire contract this week.
