“There will be a meeting between Syrian and Israeli officials regarding bystanders of the visit in which Baku (Alshara) is being conducted,” said a source who requested anonymity due to sensitivity to the issue.
According to AFP, Israel is Azerbaijan’s leading arms supplier and has a major diplomatic presence in the Caucasian state.
Diplomatic sources emphasized that Alshara himself would not attend the Baku Conference, which focused on “the recent presence of Israeli forces in Syria.”
After the overthrow of longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad in December, Israel carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria.
They also sent their troops into the unpatrol buffer zone, which separated the strategic Golan Heights opposition, and from there they advanced deeper into southern Syria.
Alshara has repeatedly said that Syria does not seek conflict with its neighbors and instead asked the international community to pressure Israel to stop the attack, according to the report.
