Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei said at a briefing at the press conference that the so-called snapback mechanism has no legal or political basis and that the threat of calling it is purely a political manipulation aimed at confronting Iran.
“With recent developments over the past few weeks, it’s more pointless than ever to resort to such unfounded mechanisms that undermine legal, ethical or political basis,” he added.
He believes Iran is still a party to the JCPOA, and stressed that the decline in commitment is a legitimate response to trade violations in the US and other political parties. He pointed out this is the correct thing outlined in the JCPOA.
Baghaei also criticized European political parties for continuing to misuse snapback clauses while failing to support his obligations under the contract. “They have no legal or moral status to activate such mechanisms,” he concluded.
On Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut said that cooperation with Iran’s International Atomic Energy Agency has not stopped, emphasizing that European claims that spark a snapback mechanism will end its role in Iran’s atomic files.
Meanwhile, he emphasized that “there is no other way beyond returning to diplomacy.”
“There is no other way than to go back to the agreed solutions negotiated with diplomacy. The recent war has proven this even more than before.”
The Zionist regime fought a war of attack on Iran on June 13, attacking Iranian troops, nuclear and residential areas for 12 days, but the US carried out a military attack on three nuclear facilities in Iran, Natanz, Fordou and Isfahan on June 22.
Iranian troops carried out a powerful counterattack shortly after the attack. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Force implemented 22 waves of retaliation missiles against the Zionist regime as part of Operation True Promise III, which caused significant losses to cities throughout the occupying territories.
In response to the US attack, Iranian forces fired waves of missiles at Aldead Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia.
The battle was suspended due to a ceasefire that came into effect on June 24th.
