Mohammad-Reza Safari said on Tuesday that exports to Africa experienced 85% growth in the first quarter of the Iranian calendar (from March 21 to June 22, 2025) compared to the same period last year.
He said Iran’s trade balance in 2025 was 113% so far, with Iran’s exports to the African continent rising from 27 to 32 countries.
Safari also proposed ways to promote trade strategies given recent developments such as increased energy and transportation costs and new US tariffs on exports from Africa.
He emphasized that such a strategy has been pursued by African China for many years.
Bilateral trade between Iran and African countries is currently at around $1.3 billion, with both sides expected to increase to $3 million-5 billion by 2025.
