Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut held a meeting with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Agency Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in China on Tuesday.
The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations between Tehran and Moscow, discussing and exchanging opinions on regional development in the aftermath of the US-Israel invasion against Iran.
Referring to the political atmosphere created by several European countries against the US and Iran following the US and Israeli military aggression, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is strong defending the country and retaining its attackers in order to protect the legitimate rights of Iranian people to benefit from peaceful nuclear energy, including uranium nuclear energy.
In reference to the outcomes and consequences of the recent 12-day military attacks in terms of distrust of the UN Charter, diplomacy, and the principles and objectives of the non-proliferation regime, Aragut highlighted the responsibility of the UN Security Council and all governments, fulfilling his obligation to protect the peace and security of the region, the world and the world.
The Russian Foreign Minister reiterated his own position to condemn illegal attacks on Iran, particularly peaceful nuclear facilities, highlighting the continued bilateral and multilateral efforts and consultations to prevent escalation of regional tensions and unrest. He also announced that Russia is ready to support that point, including international organizations, especially at the level of the UN Security Council.
Lavrov once again reiterated the importance of solving the issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear program, through political and diplomatic means alone and in accordance with international law.
