The EU failed to approve new sanctions from Russia, EU Foreign Secretary Kaja Karas said he reported on Tuesday after a foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels.
At the end of Tuesday’s business day, EU Foreign Secretary Kaha Karas said the 27-member bloc had failed to approve the 18th sanctions package against Russia as Russia’s attacks on Ukraine continue. Slovakia maintains the package, but crows said they could reach an agreement tomorrow.
The crow said there was no agreement today, “I’m really sad.” She said she was still “optimistic,” but that would reach the deal tomorrow.
To adopt sanctions, the 27 EU member states must agree to adopt punitive measures against Moscow. Slovakia is reportedly maintaining sanctions due to concerns over the EU’s proposal to end Russian gas imports by January 1, 2028.
Meanwhile, Trump reportedly called Ukrainian Voldimia Zelenki in a July 4 call, asking whether Ukrainian troops could strike Russian cities in Moscow or St. Petersburg. The White House pushed back media reports over the phone saying it was being pulled out of context.
