“Israel’s strike in Gaza also hit the Holy Family Church,” Meloni said in a statement, denounced the “unacceptable” attacks on civilians.
The strike hurt the Holy Family Church, the only Catholic church within the Palestinian enclave.
The Vatican did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Israeli military said it was investigating the issue.
“Unacceptable”
Italian ANSA news agency said six people were seriously injured, but parish priest Father Gabriele Romanelli regularly renewed the late Pope Francis about the Israeli war with the Palestinians and suffered minor injuries.
“The Israeli attack on Gaza was also attacked by the Holy Family Church,” Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a statement.
“The attacks on civilians that Israel has been carrying out for months are unacceptable. Military actions cannot justify such an attitude,” she added.
