Iran’s UN ambassador to the United Nations Amir Said Irabani described these actions as dangerous escalations by the regime occupying parts of Syria in blatant violations of international law and the UN Charter.
Irabani issued these statements on Thursday during a UN Security Council meeting addressing the situation in Syria.
He argued that Israel poses the most serious and dangerous threat to regional peace and security due to ongoing acts of aggression and the unconditional political and military support it received from the US and its western allies, Press TV reported.
Irabani argued that Israel’s attack on Syria was a direct result of the Security Council’s silence and the failure of the international community to implement effective deterrence measures.
He said Israel has never faced any impact on repeated violations of international law and has allowed it to continue its aggressive actions with full immunity.
Irabani urged the council to fulfill its responsibility and take Israel accountable for its violation, stressing that ongoing omissions would only continue the crimes of the infringer.
On Wednesday, Israeli occupation forces launched airstrikes at major military facilities in Damascus and carried out drone raids around Sweida in southern Syria.
Syrian state media reported several people had been killed in an attack on Damascus targeting areas near the defense headquarters and the outer palace site.
The Israeli forces claimed they were acting to block the Syrian regime forces. Syrian regime accused them of targeting the Druze minority in Sweida, an area where clashes with local Bedouins have occurred since mid-July.
Reactions from around the world continue to follow the latest wave of attacks on Syria, with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressing concern over escalation and violence against civilians.
