Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to Iranian leadership, held a high-level meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, where he conveyed Tehran’s official message on regional and international issues.
At a briefing on Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaelil Baghhai said as president’s envoy, Ali Larijani had a broad message from Iran and views on regional development, international issues and bilateral relations.
“He has had a constructive meeting with the Russian president, and during the meeting, particularly over the past three to four weeks, the recent developments of the region have been discussed,” Baghaei added.
Sending special envoys to other countries is completely normal in diplomatic relations, and this is done in consideration of the importance of issues and development, he emphasized.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on July 20 that the Russian president had received Ali Larijani. According to Peskov, Iranian representatives provided an assessment of the escalating situation surrounding the Middle East and Iranian nuclear program.
Tehran-based Press Television then gave further details about the conference, with Pescob further saying that the Russian president has expressed “a famous position on how to stabilize the situation in the region and political reconciliation of Iran’s nuclear program.”
