The allegations came during Tuesday’s elliptical office rant. In this rant, Trump did not provide evidence and said, “Obama was captured directly. He is guilty. This was treason.”
Trump’s rant followed unfounded claims by his National Intelligence Director Tarsi Gabbard, who allegedly coordinated a “coup” in 2016 to keep Trump out of his workplace, Reuters News News Bureau reported.
Gabbard’s so-called “evidence” consisted of selectively framed documents, she said, showing the Obama administration a “manufactured and politicized intelligence news” and indicating that the FBI probe would be launched into suspicions of Russian election interference.
Trump enthusiastically seized the story, repeating his long, lurking claim that Russian investigations are part of a deep state plot to undermine him.
“They tried to steal the election,” he said.
Observers say Trump’s call to “treason” is more than rhetorical, indicating a dangerous escalation in his years of efforts to weaponize the federal government against his political rivals, the report added.
