Kim Yeo-jung, a ruling North Korean official who is thought to speak for the country’s leader, said on Monday that Lee had expressed his commitment to South Korea and the unified state security alliance.
“If South Korea expects to reverse all the outcomes of (their actions) with some sentimental words, there is no further miscalculation,” Kim warned in a comment carried by the official KCNA news agency.
After winning the snap election following Leeds’ tough removal of Yun Sook-Yeol over a failed attempt at martial law, Leed, who took office on June 4, has vowed to improve relations with Pyongyang, which has reached its worst level for many years.
