Iran’s Steel Producers Association (ISPA) figures released on Sunday showed that Iran had made a total of $1.6 billion from its iron and steel exports in the three months ended June 21, the report reported.
According to ISPA figures, shipments increased 17.3% yearly as the annual figure for the quarter increased by 17.3% tonnes (MT), reaching a total of 8.98 billion tonnes (MT).
The figures showed that Iran exported 709 million mt of finished steel products in the June quarter, each equivalent to $329 million in completed steel products. This was a 31% decrease with volume conditions and 27% and 31% compared to the same quarter in 2024, respectively.
Mild steel exports from Iran rose 8% to MT 1.686 million in the three months from late June to late June, down 6% from the same period last year, as cargo generated revenues worth $697 million.
Mild or semi-finished steel refers to three types of steel ingots known as billets, blooms and slabs, which are used in the manufacture of finished steel products.
ISPA figures show that Iran exported 6,564 million mt of raw iron in the June quarter, including sponge iron, pellets and concentrates.
The figures showed that in the first quarter of the current calendar year, raw iron exports generated Iran’s 575 million revenues, up 25% from the same period last year.
Iran is one of the 10 largest steel producers in the world. The country has reported a steady increase in steel production and exports in recent years as part of its economic diversification programme and amid the war between Ukraine and Russia that affected regional and global supply.
