Iran is in talks with European powers about its nuclear program, but in an interview released on Saturday, government spokesman Mohajerani said there is currently no negotiations aimed at reaching a new agreement.
“What’s happening between the three countries of Iran and Europe today is an exchange of views on the nuclear issue, which is becoming very complicated,” Mokhajelani told Sputnik, the state news agency in Russia.
She emphasized that Iran has never opposed dialogue with Europe, but that the current contact information does not correspond to formal negotiations. “There are no consultations at this time aimed at reaching a deal with Europe,” she said. “These are exchanges of opinions.”
Her comments follow a meeting last week between Iranian officials and British, French and German representatives in Istanbul. The Closed Door Session marked the first formal nuclear debate since Israel and the US attacked Iranian territory in June.
