On the morning of July 30th, a major earthquake struck on the coast of Kamchatka, marking the region’s most powerful seismic event since 1952. According to official data, Quake had a magnitude of 8.8, but the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Services was recorded at 8.7. The main earthquake was followed by multiple aftershocks measuring magnitudes above 5.0. The Ministry of Community Health reported one injured person. Authorities on Kamchatka territory declared a state of growing vigilance and the Sekero Krilsky district of Sakhalin region has imposed a state of emergency. The earthquake caused a tsunami in the Pacific Ocean, prompting alerts from Japan, the US and the Philippines.
