Pakistan’s Defense Minister Kawaja Muhammad Asif said on Saturday night that Islamabad is seeking a lasting partnership with Iran to ensure peace and stability in the region. Speaking to reporters after meeting Iran’s Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Asif said, “We are two countries that will keep our brothers forever. This conference further strengthened Iran-Pakistan relations and brought them to new and higher levels.”
He added that he looks forward to Pakistan increasing its military cooperation with Iran and expanding trade and economic exchanges. “The relationship between Iran and Pakistan is very stable and we aim for a lasting partnership with the Islamic Republic to stabilize the peace of the region,” he said.
The ASIF highlighted the need for continued cooperation between the two countries to guide other neighbors and regional states into the process of achieving regional peace. “The stability of this region is essential for the development and prosperity of Iran and Pakistan countries, as well as other residents of the region,” he said.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Defense said that both countries have reaffirmed their commitment to peace and defence cooperation in the region. During the meeting, both sides discussed common concerns, including regional security, counter-terrorism efforts and ways to expand defense cooperation.
The Pakistani minister thanked Iran for his continued cooperation and emphasized the importance of defence diplomacy in addressing shared security challenges.
Iran’s defense minister thanked the Pakistani government for its warm welcome to its presidential delegation and reiterated Iran’s willingness to build stronger defence relationships based on mutual respect, shared values and trust.
Brigadier Nashirzadeh also held another meeting with Pakistan’s Minister of Defence and Production Raza Hayat Hailaj.
