In a social media post Sunday, the UN Human Rights Office said intentional killings of humanitarian workers could be a war crime.
The agency highlighted the attack on August 3rd. There, Israeli forces targeted the Red Crescent facility, killing one person and wounding at least three people.
The statement emphasized that humanitarian workers risk their lives to provide life-saving aid.
An independent investigation into the deaths of all civilians in war-torn territory was sought.
“To date, at least 49 PRCs and 136 civil defense members have been killed. These workers continue to strive to save lives and risk their lives,” the statement added.
“There must be an independent investigation into all killings of civilians. The intentional killing of humanitarian workers could be a war crime.”
Israel has killed 51 staff and volunteers since the war began in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

More Palestinians die daily due to forced hunger and malnutrition.
Parents are seeing their children waste as intentional aid restrictions from Israel are becoming murderers across besieged territory.
The Palestinians as a whole were entirely dependent on UN agencies and other partners to distribute food. Israel dismantled the non-supporting aid supply system and replaced it with a controversial mechanism of US aid. Humanitarian workers and Gaza authorities say it has only made the crisis worse.
The US-Israel genocide campaign, which began in October 2023, has killed around 60,900 Palestinians, mostly women and children so far.
