In a message released Friday to mark National Journalist Day, Pezeschkian said, “More than ever before, the nation needs honest candidness, dignified patience and unwavering defense, not just through the battlefield but through the real headlines, accurate reporting, and standing against distortion and despair.”
He praised the journalists as the frontline commander in the defense of Truth, especially in conflict and misinformation, for risking their lives defending their homeland.
Pezeschkian sought to build public trust, connect people’s hearts, and become more aware of the unique role of the media in resisting falsehood. He also reaffirmed the government’s responsibility to protect the dignity, security and livelihoods of journalists.
Encouraging journalists to be brave and honest about Iran’s story, the president emphasized the importance of reflecting both the strengths and courage of the country.
According to Pezeshkian, National Journalist Day is not just a calendar date, but an opportunity to reflect on the unparalleled role of media in communicating reality, fostering trust and confronting lies. The day celebrates those who never lowered the flag of honor, independence and consciousness in a turbulent time and chaotic story.
He pointed out that in today’s world, we were caught up in the chaos of competing stories where the truth is often distorted before it became clear. Journalists remain the frontline advocates of truth. For 12 days when Iran stood up against the brutal and lawless regime and its allies, these journalists lived through the stories of resistance, writing about martyrs and writing a steady broadcast into the Iranian world.
“I am truly grateful to all of you who have revealed the truth about the Zionist regime’s war against Iran and amplified the voices of the Iranian people at the world stage,” Pezeshkian said.
“I will never forget the courage and courage of a journalist who has truly reported the heinous crimes and genocide in Gaza and earned a merciful honor.”
