According to Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio and the Federal Aviation Administration, the single-engine plane carrying four people was about to land at Kalispell City Airport around 2pm.
Preliminary investigations showed pilots losing control and crashing into runways before the plane hit several parked aircraft, setting fires on multiple planes, Kalispell police said. The fire spread across the grassy area before it went out, Venezio said.
The small city-owned airport is located just south of Kalispell, a city of about 30,000 people in northwest Montana.
Witnesses said the plane crashed at the end of the runway and reached another plane, Kalispell fire chief Jay Hagen said.
Hagen said passengers were able to leave on their own after the suspension. He said the two were slightly injured and were treated at the airport.
