Leila Baghban, deputy director of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization for Africa (TPO), announced that exports to Africa had increased 85% compared to the same period last year in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (starting on March 21).
He spoke on Wednesday during his visit to Nairobi, Kenya, and spoke for the two-day Iran-Kenya Joint Economic Cooperation Committee Meeting, which began a day ago.
“In the first three months of the year, we witnessed a significant increase in trade with Kenya, where exports from Africa, particularly Iran, reached $85 million,” she added.
According to Bagban, Iran’s exports to African countries currently total around $1 billion a year, but that figure has fluctuated slightly in recent years.
She also noted that Iran and Kenya are holding the current Joint Economic Cooperation Committee Committee.
