Costagnan’s visit to Tehran comes after a recent peace agreement was engraved between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Washington.
Previously, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had emphasized in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Aragut that Armenia is an Iranian friendly and neighbouring country.
Yerevan is prioritizing maintaining friendly relations with Tehran based on good neighbors and mutual interests, a top Armenian diplomat said in a call, adding that Armenia makes relations with Iran very important in all regions.
Mirzoyan expressed his gratitude to Abbas Araguchi for his principled stance expressed in the Washington Agreement.
Araguchi pointed out that all decisions and actions must fully respect the state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The contestants exchanged opinions on future consultations between Armenia and Iran and preparation for high levels of contact.
