Instead, EU leadership has joined five of the 27 EU member states and the UK’s chief – the European Commission’s Ursula von der Leyen issued a statement issued to X, Tass reported.
Rather than being entitled “EU Statement,” the document is presented as follows: “President of France Emmanuel (France Emmanuel) Macron, Italian Prime Minister Meloni, Italian Prime Minister Meloni, German Prime Minister Meloni (British Kiel) (British Kiel) (Finland Alexander) (Finland Alexander) (Finland Alexander) Costa.”
In the early hours of Saturday, a meeting of all 27 EU ambassadors was convened, but no joint statement was issued.
The document does not approve US President Donald Trump’s main paper on the need for a long-term settlement of the conflict without the prerequisite for a reserve ceasefire.
Essentially, the final text does not introduce new peace proposals, but instead repeats Brussels’ familiar story points, from the pledge of military supplies to the call for “fair peace.”
