Russia’s Federal Security Bureau (FSB) said it had blocked another attempt by Ukraine’s intelligence agency. All those involved in importing improvised explosive devices into Russia were detained.
“The Russian Federation Security Agency has thwarted another attempt by Ukrainian special services to use vehicles loaded with explosives to launch a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge. It has been established that the cars with high-powered homemade explosive devices have passed through many countries and arrived in Russia from Ukraine.
“It was supposed to cross the border between Russia and Georgia at the Verkhniy Lars international checkpoint in North Ossetia and Alania, and head to Krasnodar territory, a motor carrier driven by private drivers,” the statement said.
According to the FSB, the car with the bomb was then handed over to another driver. He was to drive to Crimea via the Crimean Bridge, becoming an unconscious suicide bomber that Kiev would use without his knowledge.
“Despite all the tricks of Ukrainian terrorists, FSB officers were able to quickly unveil the plan, identify and soften the explosive device, carefully disguise it with a Chevrolet bolt, and detain all involved in the birth to our country,” the statement said.
