The President arrived in Yerevan on Monday, August 18th, with the official invitation of the Prime Minister of Armenia, for the purpose of an official bilateral visit, and was welcomed by the country’s vice minister and foreign minister.
Speaking with reporters before his departure, the president emphasized that his trip to Armenia would come as part of a broader initiative to strengthen relations between Iran and its neighbors.
“This visit is a continuation of travel prioritizing neighboring states. Based on leadership policies and views, our neighbors are a priority for relationships,” he said.
Pezeshkian described Armenia as “friends and neighbors” with Iran “strategic relations.”
He noted that Tehran is consistent in maintaining strong political, social, cultural and economic cooperation with Yerevan.
He added that while several agreements have already been signed between the two faces, promoting bilateral cooperation, the current travel aims to accelerate implementation of those commitments and advance.
“This trip is intended to pursue and promote effective, constructive actions and agreements,” the president emphasized.
