At a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian emphasized the need for Caucasian countries to avoid taking in other countries in the region and taking care of security issues, adding that Iran makes regional peace extremely important.
He added that Iran supports peace in the Caucasian region between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and that “outsourcing the solution to the Caucasian problems to outside the territories further complicates the local situation.”
The president further said, “Iran is determined to develop relations with Armenia in all regions and raise it to a strategic level.”
Before the press conference, senior officials from both countries signed up a memorandum of understanding of up to 10 to develop mutual cooperation in the presence of two political leaders.
Mous was signed on the second day of Pezehskian’s visit and included various areas of diplomacy, economy, mining and industry, roads and urban development, healthcare, environment, education, culture, social interaction and tourism.
