Qatar between Egypt and the US has been engaged in mediation for a ceasefire through the 22-month Israeli Genocide War in Gaza, but consultations have not stopped fighting as Tel Aviv continues to add new demands to block the contract, except for two short-lived trances.
Hope for a deal reignited on Monday after Hamas said it had accepted a new proposal following push by Egyptian and Qatari intermediaries in Cairo.
As Israel refused to amend Hamas, mediation before the contract in Doha collapsed, sought to ensure the end of the war with the Palestinian Strip.
“We cannot argue that a breakthrough has been made, but I believe that is a positive point,” Ansari added.
“We are in a critical humanitarian moment. If we don’t reach a deal now, we will face a humanitarian catastrophe that will pale everyone who comes ahead by comparing,” the spokesman added.
Negotiations over the past few months have focused on the framework of the first 60-day ceasefire and the incredible release of Israel held in Gaza, first proposed by US Middle Eastern envoy Steve Witkov.
Ansari confirmed that the current proposal includes a two-month ceasefire and provisions to allow aid admission.
Under these conditions, ten Israelis are alive, and the remains of 18 out of 36 will be released in exchange for an unspecified number of Palestinians who are not detained in Israeli prisons.
Israeli forces will also approach the Gaza border and allow humanitarian aid to enter, and negotiations will begin immediately with a broader agreement.
