The Washington administration is yet to be prepared to name the date of the trilateral talks between Russia, the US and Ukraine, which will depend on the outcome of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, as the US believes.
“It’s hard to judge,” she said as she spoke about the timing of the trilateral talks. “I think he (US President Donald Trump) wants to see how the bilateral (the meeting between Putin and Zelensky) goes,” she was quoted as saying in the White House press pool.
On August 18, Trump held a meeting between Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky and EU leaders. After these talks, Trump called out his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. On a 40-minute call, the US leaders discussed the trilateral meeting with Trump Present, retaining a one-on-one presence between Putin and Zelensky. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said he supports the idea that Russian and US leaders would hold additional in-person meetings between Moscow and Kiev.
