According to the Tehran Times, Iran, who lost 30-18 in the opening match, is scheduled to play South Korea on Sunday.
The championship will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from August 20th to 29th. This year’s edition features a team of 10 participating people, making it the first time Uzbekistan has held a continental event in this age category.
As a qualifying tournament for the 2026 IHF Women’s Junior World Championship, the contest will award the venue to the top four teams who will secure participation in upcoming global events.
The Republic of Korea was the dominant force in championship history, winning 16 of 17 previous editions. The only exception came in 2022 when India claimed titles in the tournament where South Korea, the People’s Republic of China and traditionally the most successful nations in competition existed.
This is the second consecutive edition, and the second in championship history alone, with 10 teams participating. They are each divided into two groups of five teams, with the top two from each group reaching the semi-finals.
In Group A, host Uzbekistan faces China’s Taipei, Hong Kong, India and China, a previous edition competition.
Group B appears to be in a balanced state with the title holders facing Japan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Korea.
