In a harsh assessment released on Friday, the integrated food security stage (IPC) said hunger has been established in and around Gaza, the largest city centre in Enclave.
The area is home to 500,000-800,000 people, most of whom are evacuated and living without proper shelter under the weight of Israel’s months of lockdowns and bombing.
The IPC also declared hunger was ongoing in the Governor of Gaza, home to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the North.
The report warned that hunger is likely to spread to Dare El Bara in central Gaza and Karn Yunis in the south by the end of next month.
Non-supporting experts warned that the crisis is “completely artificial” and could lead to exponential deaths without immediate intervention.
“This hunger is completely artificial. It can be stopped and reversed. Times of discussion and hesitation have passed, and starvation is present and spreading rapidly,” the IPC report states.
He emphasized that delays could result in a sharp increase in hunger-related deaths in the besieged strip.
“There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that an immediate scale response is needed, and even more delays will result in a completely unacceptable escalation of starvation-related mortality every few days.”
After 22 months of the Israeli Genocide War, more than half a million people in Gaza are currently in hunger condition (IPC phase 5) and are marked “star, poverty, death,” the IPC reported.
