In a call with Pakistani counterpart, Saeed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Momeni expressed sympathy for the casualties and said Iran is ready to support the victims of the disaster.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to defend Pakistan during these difficult times and provide support to those affected by the flood,” he said.
“We are saddened by the heavy humans and economic losses in Pakistan. It is heartbreaking that hundreds of people have lost their lives and many more have lost their loved ones,” the minister said.
In response, Minister Naqvi expressed his gratitude for Iran’s solidarity and willingness to support, highlighting the enduring ties between the two countries.
“Iran and Pakistan have always faced each other in times of joy and sorrow,” he said.
Naqvi also highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that Pakistan is facing an unprecedented climate crisis.
Climate change has had a serious impact on Pakistan, he said that the country is facing a dangerous stage of the phenomenon for the first time in its history.
Heavy rains in various parts of Pakistan, particularly in the north and northwest, have claimed at least 700 lives and left thousands injured.
