A Kinipiac University survey found that 60% of voters disapproved of the United States sending military aid to Israel, while 32% support additional aid. This is the highest level of opposition with Israel in the Kinipiac poll since October 7, 2023 and the lowest level of Israel’s support.
As President Donald Trump continues to seek an end to the conflict and attempts to bridge the division between members of the debate over whether Democrats support Israel, disapproval of US support for Israel has increased.
Democrats and independent voters are heavily opposed to Israeli military action in Gaza. A new poll shows 75% of Democrats and 66% of independents said they were opposed to more spending to provide additional military aid to Israel, while 56% of Republicans supported additional spending.
Half of the voters surveyed, including 77% of Democrats, said they believe Israel is guilty of genocide. 64% of Republicans said they didn’t believe Israel was guilty of genocide.
Voters were roughly split when asked if they had more sympathy for the Israelites and Palestinians. 37% said they had more sympathy for the Palestinians, while 36% said they had more sympathy for the Israelis. These numbers are the highest marks for Palestinians and represent the lowest mark for Israelis in the Kinipiac poll since 2001.
Descending support for Israel brings new urgency to the White House’s efforts to end the Israeli-Hamas war. The president and top advisors held a meeting Wednesday to develop a strategy on Gaza’s plans after the conflict ended despite Israel continuing to attack the region.
Quinnipiac surveyed 1,220 registered voters nationwide from August 21-25. The margin for poll error is +/- 3.4% points.
