Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi, who leads the Islamic Republic of Iraqi (Iliaf), said he conducted 24-hour combat, reconnaissance and air defense missions in response to Israel’s unattacked attacks on June 13.
“From the first minutes of the war imposed by the Zionist regime, pilots at Shahid Babai Air Base at Isfahan and other bases have successfully conducted combat flights through Tehran and other strategic regions, intercepting advanced enemy drones,” Vahedi said in a speech in Tehran.
He said the Iriaf will respond to all requests from the country’s integrated air defense network, and fighters will repeatedly face “enemy squadrons” and prevent them from reaching their targets.
The Iranian army adopted air force capabilities during the 12-day war. Vahedi said the Air Force has carried out dozens of missions, some of which remained categorized due to security concerns.
“During the 12-day war with the Zionist regime, the focus of commanders, pilots and technical staff was on patrol, reconnaissance and scrambling flights running against enemy manned and unmanned aerial vehicles,” he said.
“The Air Force is fully prepared to protect Iran’s airspace in any situation,” he added.
The Israeli regime launched a blatant, unprovoked onslaught on Iran on June 13, triggering a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people across the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians.
The United States also joined the war several days later by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites with a serious violation of international law.
In response, Iranian forces targeted strategic sites across the occupying regions and Aldeid Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran managed to stop the terrorist invasion through successful retaliation operations against both the Israeli regime and the United States.
