Iran’s Chief Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani is calling for a more concrete expansion of bilateral relations and broader cooperation with neighbouring Iraq in light of the unfolding of global developments.
Larijani appealed at a Saturday meeting with the head of Iraqi Shiite clergy and the head of the national wisdom movement, Seiyed Ammar Hakim, who is officially visiting Tehran.
“Given the current dynamic current situation, cooperation between Iran and Iraq must be more objective and concrete,” said Iran’s top security official.
Larijani also characterized Iraq as a friendly and strong country in the region, describing the cooperation of Tehran-Baghdad as strategic.
On his part, Hakim said that, contrary to the calculations of Zionist groups, 12-day Israeli military attacks on Iran increased the power of the Islamic Republic in Western Asia, and that Muslims praised Iran’s dominant role.
“Today, the evil actions of the Zionist regime regarding the concept of “great Israel” clearly indicate that Iran is right to call Israel a cancerous tumor. The entire region is now sensitive to Israeli adventurism,” the Iraqi leader argued.
On June 13, the Israeli regime launched an illegal attack on Iran, leading to the assassination of many senior commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians.
Iran retaliated within 24 hours with a barrage of missiles and drones, followed by a series of retaliation operations under the True Promise III.
The United States took part in the war on June 22nd, representing Israel. At that time, the bombers collided with three Iranian nuclear sites in violation of international law.
In response, Iran has launched a missile strike at Al Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US air force base in West Asia, in an act of self-defense.
The Israeli government, which fought, was forced to unilaterally accept the ceasefire contract on June 24th.
Laryani and Hakim also discussed the latest regional development, bilateral relations between Iran and Iraq, security agreements between Baghdad and Tehran and joint cooperation to enhance regional stability and security.
