Lieutenant General Habibora Sayali, deputy chief of the Iranian army, made his remarks Saturday in Rasht city during an event commemorating 8,000 martyrs in Gilan province.
He said the Iranian state was behind the country’s victory in the June invasion, and with its people, Iran would never be defeated by its enemies.
“Since the Islamic Revolution (in 1979) our country has shown exceptional unity and solidarity through sacred defense (against the war imposed by Iraq in the 1980s) and 12 days of war,” he added.
“During the 12-day war, the prime minister of the fake Zionist regime (Benjamin Netanyahu) repeatedly called on our people to take them on the streets, but none of them paid attention to those calls. Instead, the unity and unity of our people have become even stronger.”
Sayyari also said that all enemy plots, including wars imposed, cultural invasions, soft warfares and hybrid warfares, are aimed at defeating the Iranian state.
The top commander further emphasized that before the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian state stood strong against an armed regime and ultimately won.
Thanks to the active presence of people on the battlefield, he pointed out, Iran achieved victory during the eight years of war imposed by the Iraqi regime.
“The enemy’s goal to launch the imposed war and 12-day attack was to defeat the revolution and destroy the integrity of our nation’s territory. But our people defended their homeland with naked property and by facing the enemy, they forced them to bring their dreams to the grave,” he said.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant, unprovoked attack on Iran, triggering a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people domestically, including military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians.
The United States also took part in the war by bombing three nuclear sites in Iran with a serious violation of international law.
In response, Iranian forces targeted strategic sites across the occupying regions and Aldeid Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran was able to stop the terrorist attacks through successful retaliation operations against both the Israeli regime and the United States.
