At a meeting on Sunday, the Iranian president emphasized that continuing cooperation between Islamic countries is essential to development and resilience to external pressure.
Iranian officials believe that continuing unity and cooperation between Islamic countries in all regions will not only pave the way for development and progress, but will not sanction or defeat Muslim states, Pezeshkian said.
Regarding Iran-Iraqi relations, the president reaffirmed that geographical boundaries cannot affect deep-rooted relations between Iran and Iraqi people, which are strengthened by shared religious and cultural ties. He warned against the divisive issues that could undermine Islamic unity, and urged vigilance against enemy conspiracies with the aim of creating discord.
The president also emphasized that the strength of the Islamic community lies in solidarity, particularly against a common threat, such as the Israeli regime, a tool for American imperialism.
He praised the immobility of the people of Gaza and the recent resilience that Iran has shown, and insisted that the military could not break their unity.
In dealing with the upcoming crucial elections in Iraq, Pezeshkian sought political unity across ethnic and sectarian lines, deemed it essential to Iraq’s empowerment and the wider Islamic community. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to strengthening its comprehensive ties with Iraq.
Al-Hakim praised the courage of the Iranian people during the recent war imposed by the Israeli regime, and emphasized the global admiration for their courage. He notes the importance of political support from Arab and Islamic countries to Iran, which could enhance cooperation between Islamic countries.
He described President Pezeshkian’s visit to Iraq as valuable, noting that the Iraqis have closely followed Iranian officials and admitted him as honest and open.
Iraqi officials have called for boosting economic and trade relations between Iran and Iraq, recognizing that the current exchange does not reflect the true potential of their partnership.
