Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei told the IRNA on Monday that the visit is within the framework of Iran’s ongoing dialogue with regional and Islamic countries, aimed at strengthening regional ties and exchanging opinions on regional issues and international development.
During the stop in Cairo, Araguchi will meet with the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, to complete discussions on a new framework for cooperation between Iran and the agency.
The spokesman noted that the framework text was drafted over three technical consultations and is currently in the final stages of completeness.
Baghaei explained that the framework is committed to Iran’s protection commitment, taking into account the realities of Iran, including illegal attacks by the Israeli regime and the US on Iran’s nuclear facilities, as well as the laws passed by Congress and considerations from the Supreme National Security Council.
The Foreign Minister will also hold new political talks with Egyptian officials, including a meeting with President Abdel Fatta El-Sisi, to review bilateral and regional developments.
