Iranian Foreign Minister Aragut, visiting Cairo, met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatti to discuss bilateral and regional development.
At the conference, both sides discussed the process of improving bilateral relations between Iran and Egypt, highlighting the strengthening of relations in areas of interest to both countries, including the areas of economic, trade, tourism and culture.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged opinions on the need to prevent regional and international developments, particularly the humanitarian catastrophe in occupied Palestine caused by Gaza’s continued genocide, providing humanitarian aid to the people, stopping crimes of the genocide and Zionist regimes, and preventing plans to force the Gaza people out of their lands.
The two ministers also discussed Iran’s nuclear issue. The Iranian Foreign Minister pointed to Iran’s principled stance in defending its rights and interests under the non-proliferation treaty, describing the illegal attacks of the US and Zionist regimes as a fatal blow to the UN Charter and the principles of international law, reminding the International Atomic Energy Agency’s responsibility to protect the rights of the state.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister also emphasized the right of all NPT countries to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, praised the responsible approach of the Islamic Republic in this regard, and expressed Egypt’s preparation to promote Iran’s interaction with the institution.
