Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior adviser on international affairs to leaders of the Islamic Revolution, strongly condemned the reported hosting of the Zionist Ravis Summit in Azerbaijan, describing the move as unprecedented “anti-Islam.”
In a message shared on social media, Velayati expressed surprise and regret, saying he hopes that the report is not true.
“This is the first time the Azerbaijani government has carried out such a violation, and it undermines the global reputation of Islam and Cyiaism,” he said.
Emphasizing Azerbaijani’s Islamic heritage, Belayati pointed out that Azerbaijani people, who have been Muslims for nearly a 200-year period, would certainly refuse to do such a thing.
He warned that the summit may aim to expand the so-called Abrahamian agreement and perhaps to draw Azerbaijan into the agreement.
Verayati further questioned Baku’s cooperation with Israel, citing the Israeli regime’s hostile actions against the Islamic State.
He concluded that the eager people in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus were unhappy with this anti-Islamic action, and concluded that this irrational move would ultimately be at a disadvantage for Azerbaijan.
