“Health, medical or medical tourism is one of the most important competitive advantages for tourism in the country over others,” Muslim Shojaei, director of the Foreign Tourism Marketing Development Office of Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
“Last year we received 7.4 million tourists, of which 1.2 million were healthy tourists,” the official said, adding that healthy tourists received different treatments in Iran.
He noted that services such as hair transplantation, cosmetic surgery, transplantation and fertility treatment have led to other treatments foreign tourists received at Iranian medical centres.
“According to statistics from sources such as the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), the global medical tourism market is worth around $47 billion, with each healthy tourist spending an average of $25-$3,000. The global market size is between 18 million and 20 million patients.
Meanwhile, he said the 12-day war had made efforts that were not provoked by the Israeli regime and the US against Iran.
