As of yesterday Monday, Iran’s national freestyle wrestling team had won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the 8-weight category of the 2025 World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. This will be the opportunity to win two more gold medals as two players reached the final match while the competition continues on Tuesday.
Amirhossein Zare won his country’s gold medal in the 125kg category.
Ahmad Mohammadnejad Javan and Kamran Ghasempour, Mohammad Nokhodi and Amirhossein Firouzpour have also won silver and bronze medals as of Monday.
Iran has two finalists in the last two weight categories. The 65kg Rahman Amouzad and the 97kg weight category, Amiralia Zarpira will have the opportunity to bag two more gold or silver medals for Iran later on Tuesday.
The last time the National Freestyle Wrestling team won the championship title was at the 2013 World Championships held in Budapest.
The Iranian team won six world titles in this year’s victory.
