Athletes from India, Kenya, China, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Belarus, Ethiopia, South Africa and other countries will compete for the award. The competition will be held with the support of the Moscow government and the city’s Ministry of Sports. TV BRICS is the international media partner of the event.
The Moscow Marathon is part of the BRICS Marathon League Series. This year, over 1,800 people will be running it as the third stage of the series. This is five times more than last year. Over 3,000 runners will be taking part in the second time. They all win special awards.
Dmitri Tarasov, director of the Moscow Marathon and co-founder of the running community, focused on the size of the event and highlighted the record number of attendees this year.
Every year, the Moscow Marathon becomes increasingly important. A record number of participants have been registered at both distances this year, with the entire city literally living with hopes. (…) For many, the Moscow Marathon is more than just a race. It was the result of months of preparation, a dream they have worked towards in stages. Everyone who will be attending this weekend will already be an example of others,” he added.
On the first day of September 20th, there will be a 10km race, and on the 21st, there will be a 42.2km marathon, corporate and student relay. There is also another children’s race for participants between the ages of 4-13.
Almost half of runners will be participating in this marathon for the first time. They look forward to a completely improved route accredited by the International Sports Association. The route passes through Moscow’s central street and levee, allowing participants to see the capital.
