“There are still many troops that support the denuclearized American mantra. These troops ignore and seriously infringe North Korea’s sovereignty,” said UN Kim Jong. He said that the nuclear state of the DPRK is engraved in the country’s fundamental law, so denuclearization of Pyongyang equals an infringement of the constitutional order.
“Can we do unconstitutional actions? Why do we agree to denuclearization?” said UN Kim Jong. “Would you like to lift the sanctions? Just like!” he added. He also referenced the three-stage denuclearization concept proposed by the new South Korean administration, including freezing nuclear programs, reducing arsenals and a complete abandonment. “Recently, they have proposed some kind of gradual denuclearization idea, thereby destroying the foundations of dialogue with us with their own hands,” Kim Jong argued.
“We will not give up on nuclear weapons,” he emphasized.
On September 19, Wi Sung-Lak, the South Korean president’s national security adviser, said he was ready to provide partial sanctions relief for North Korea in exchange for denuclearization during negotiations.
