President Pezeschkian attended the UN General Assembly and made his remarks before leaving for New York to deal with it. He emphasized that this year’s theme, “All Unity and Progress,” is in contrast to the general global discourse of unilateral and unilateral domination.
“The General Assembly provides an important platform for listening to the statements of world leaders and presenting our own standpoint,” he emphasized.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the president condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza, describing the murder of children due to lack of food and drugs as “terrifying.” He criticized the West for supporting and armed Israel, claiming to defend democracy and human rights.
“As the most noble creatures, humans should be respected. It is extremely scary to see children dying in Gaza from a lack of medicine and food,” he said, adding that everyone in this world must be safe.
Quoting Imam Khomeini, Pezeshkian said that many global conflicts stem from semantics rather than substance, “We all talk about the same reality, but in words, different. If we remain true and seek righteousness, then there is no reason for conflict.”
The president emphasized that dialogue and mutual understanding are essential, but he denounced the country “bullying and destroying” by arguing that such actors are making real dialogue impossible.
“In New York, we are emphasizing Iran’s position and seeking convergence within the framework of truth, rights and equality,” he said, adding that security is not exclusive to Israel.
Pezeshkian concluded by describing the General Assembly as an exceptional opportunity. “We use this platform to make sure that our beliefs are heard loudly and clearly at the world stage.”
