Mahmoud Abbas, president of Palestinian authorities, attended a “Two-State Solution” meeting in New York hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, calling for the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli occupations and the release of Israeli prisoners.
Speaking on the video conference after being denied face-to-face, Abbas expressed his gratitude for the mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar and the US, praised Egypt and Jordan for their stance against forced evacuation of Palestinians.
In a statement in line with Western positions, Abbas said Hamas and other armed groups had handed over arms to Palestinian authority and would not play a role in Gaza.
He also called for an immediate halt of the expansion of the settlement, annexation of Palestinian lands, violence by settlers and attacks on the sacred sites.
