“It would be a lie that Iran will not negotiate. If a reasonable and fair proposal is presented to hold Iran’s interests, we will accept it,” Ali Larijani, secretary of the Supreme Security Council, said in a meeting with members of the Chamber of Commerce at the headquarters of Tearan Chamber of Commerce.
He said Iran “sought every possible way” to resolve the dispute over the “snapback mechanism” of sanctions against Tehran through dialogue, but the other side said it was greedy and hampered.
Larijani cited France as an example, “They sent a message through the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency. If Iran reaches a specific arrangement with the agency, Europe would withdraw its snapback request…but they did not keep their promise.”
He criticized the US proposal calling for Iran to reduce missile range to less than 500 km. “We cannot accept this state. Can this be accepted by Iranians?” he asked.
“The West raises negotiation slogans, but in fact they are pursuing other goals,” Larijani added that Tehran “welcomes reasonable and fair proposals that guarantee Iran’s interests.”
He thanked business leaders in Israel’s 12-day invasion in June and praised them for continuing to operate the factory. Larijani also said private sector involvement in foreign consultations will help resolve the broader problem.
