Chairman of Iran-Uzbekistan Parliament’s friendship group Hojjatoleslam Javad Nikbin said Uzbekistan is one of Iran’s most important civilization partners and that its relationship with the country may transcend political, economic and cultural fields.
Cities such as Samarkand and Bukhara played a very special role in the formation of Iran and Islamic civilizations, and this role has led to the existence of numerous common landmarks and intangible heritage between Iran and Uzbekistan.
Iran and Uzbekistan are likely to cooperate at the geo-economic level, he said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojatres Nikbin pointed to the cultural discipline, adding that “despite the existence of many opportunities and commonalities, there is still great potential to strengthen and develop cooperation.”
Tourism flows between the two countries are formed at a very high level and can lead to the cultural vicinity of the nation. General heritage and well-known figures such as Alisher Navai, Avicenna and Al-Khwarizmi are considered important foundations for the development of relations between the two countries in the field of culture, he added.
